On April 15th, SuperGreen Solutions joined the the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) to discuss ongoing plans to revitalize the Bojangles Coliseum, Ovens Auditorium, and the Independence Boulevard corridor. With a vision of Southern hospitality and world-class customer service, the CRVA accomplishes this through destination marketing via Visit Charlotte and management of Charlottes public assembly facilities which include Bojangles’ Coliseum, Charlotte Convention Center, NASCAR Hall of Fame, Ovens Auditorium and Time Warner Cable Arena.
Steve Bagwell, vice president of facilities with CRVA, highlighted the current plans to work with GoodSports Enterprises to bring the Independence Boulevard facilities to world class standards. Bagwell stated, Our goal is to not only improve our facilities, but to also revitalize the neighborhoods around us. Current plans are to place a 100,000 square foot muli-use field house, 150 room hotel, and numerous new restaurants all in the existing surface parking lot. Of the total $97 million dollar budget, which includes renovations to both Bojangles Coliseum and Ovens Auditorium, $72 million will be coming from private funds.
When asked about any plans to incorporate green or energy efficient equipment and operating practices, Tom Murray, CEO of CRVA, said, We welcome local companies like SuperGreen Solutions to share their industry expertise… with Green Team Charlotte, we look to pave the way for improving the environment through sustainable business practices and events in our region.
Thomas Hsiao, President of SuperGreen Solutions Charlotte Mid-Atlantic Region, added, Its great to see our local city owned facilities take a stand on going green and lead by example. We are in discussions with the CRVA on energy efficient products, such as tankless water heaters to make the Charlotte Convention Center and other CRVA properties even more green.
Current projections have construction beginning fall of 2014 with January 2016 as the completion date.
